To Date Or Not To Date

If you’ve been following me for a while – you know that I write about whatever I feel like. This is my safe space to share all the crazy whacky thoughts that I have. There is one topic that I have avoided writing about entirely which is my dating life. I am single as of now (haha I sound so hopeful) but I have been dating on-off over the past 2-3 years. Some interactions have been interesting, some plain hilarious and a few heart breaking. The reasons I’ve avoided writing about my dating experiences are –

  1. There are a lot of young people (<18 years) following me and I don’t want my dating experiences to influence them in any way.
  2. I’m not very comfortable talking about my dating life even with friends. I feel like talking about my dating life jinxes it. I dislike judgement, advice and opinions that influence how I feel.
  3. It is quite personal.
  4. My family and friends are aware that this blog exists but don’t read it. (1-2 friends do) On the off chance that they see my blog, I’m not going to be able to avoid talking about it with them.

Here’s why I want to write about it –

  1. Writing has helped me with so many things in the past year especially managing my anxiety. I think writing about my dating life will help me through all the anxiety and crazy that accompanies it.
  2. Hopefully since I’m writing about it and not talking about it – it won’t jinx it. (LOOPHOLE πŸ˜€ )
  3. It would make great content for this blog. Hahah! If you’ve watched SATC – imagine a column like that – just WAY WAY more PG. Funnily, SATC was the reason I even started this blog. πŸ˜€
  4. I wouldn’t be sharing a lot of details just about my experiences and feelings.

So here’s how you can help – let me know in the comments below – if you would be interested in reading my dating chronicles. I’m hoping to write a weekly or a fortnightly post on it – depending on what’s happening in my life. If you think it’s a totally stupid or bad idea – please let me know that too! I appreciate all advice and opinions on this (but not on my dating life :P). COMMENT!

JK! πŸ˜€

IKR? Especially in India – I feel like most Indian bloggers don’t right about their dating experiences! So I think it might be fun…but your age worries me because you’re still kids and I don’t want my content to influence you in any way. πŸ™‚

Honestly, I think our generation is more updated now but yes it can influence us! But I still support you! I remember a long time ago romance was my favourite genre when I used to read webtoons but I eventually got rid of it. I’m more of a fantasy girl now!

Awww, thank you! It is so sweet that all the kids following me are showing their support. It is really one of my main concerns that I don’t want to influence you all in any way possible – so I’m going to try and write responsible posts! πŸ™‚

Do what you feel most comfortable. You know you can write short stories without have to say you are dating or saying this your dating life. I would blog about dating, but I think the power at be may have me being single. As they say, nice guys finish last. maybe my personality isn’t attractive and boring to girls.

I am single too! It is very difficult to find someone that you like and who likes you back. The ones who like me – I’m not too crazy about and vice versa! Especially once you’re older and don’t want to settle on certain aspects. I’m sure she’s out there for you – keep looking! πŸ™‚ ❀

I actually thought I'd do that and started on 2 stories but it just didn't seem fun fun! But I'll definitely keep that in mind if I don't feel like blogging blogging about it.

I’m not sure if we are referencing the same blogger but I was a huge fan of one too. She used to write extensively about her online dating stories. I can’t remember her blog anymore but she wrote till Aug-Sep last year and then stopped. She wrote the most fun and interesting dating stories. I’m going to go look for her blog to see if I can be inspired. πŸ˜€

IKR? I’ve actually seen it happen. So I usually wait 2 months before I tell anyone about the guy I’m seeing and weirdly every time I start telling people – the thing just fizzles out! 😦 I’m hoping writing about it doesn’t jinx it! πŸ˜€

It’s definitely scary, I always struggle to write about personal stuff, but all your reasons to do this are very, very valid.
Needless to say, I’ll be very interested in reading these. (Fun fact – its not only because i know you offline. a blogger i am following since years and love reading her a lot starting chronicling her dates a couple of years back & those are some of my favorite posts of her).
one way to handle the concern on offline circles reading it – go for a password protected post, but on the off chance that they ask you for the password, it will lead to an awkward conversation finally πŸ˜›
