Me | Forcing A Glow Up

One of the YouTube Vloggers that got me through the dark days of last year was Taz from ClickForTaz. She’s a British Vlogger who is so relatable in her adulting struggles. This blog is inspired by her. She does these forced glow ups every time she’s down to help herself get into a better mental space. I’m going to be doing the same. The past 3 weeks have been a whirlwind of crazy in India with the new wave of COVID. My mental health has been at an all time low as has my physical health. So I’m going to force a glow up in the next two weeks.

What are my goals?

Physical Goals –

  • Eat healthy for the next two weeks – no sugar, no junk, no ready to eat food (I’ve slipped a lot on my eating in the last 3 weeks)
  • Be vegan for the next two weeks (I’m 3 days/week vegan as of now)
  • Workout every day for 45 mins
  • Lose 2 kgs

If you’re looking for tips on how to lose weight and maintain it definitely check out Ang’s blog. She is incredibly motivating!

Mental Goals –

  • Wake up early every day
  • Practice gratitude as soon as I wake up and before sleeping
  • No procrastination for the next two weeks
  • Move from the bed to my desk to work at (since we’re back to WFH)
  • No binge watching shows/content
  • No social media (other than for work purpose)
  • Limit phone usage time
  • No using my phone for atleast 15minutes before sleeping

Other goals –

  • Keep my room and workspace neat
  • Pick up fun DIY projects that excite me

The idea behind a forced glow up is to work on yourself – physically and mentally so that you help yourself get to a better place. It is not something I recommend to others (since I am not a licensed professional to give that sort of advice) but it seems like an exciting challenge to me that might help with my anxiety too by giving me something to focus on. By making it a short term goal, I’m hoping I stick to it. Usually I make plans for 3 months and by the second month I’m already slipping. So here’s hoping! I’ll do an update post in 2 weeks to let you know how I did!

Any tips or tricks to help me achieve my goals? Let me know in the comments! ❤

This is an amazing idea, I hope it helps you. As for tips, I suggest that when you’re working out and you are new to it, you might get frustrated easily, it’s a good possibility but I’m not saying this WILL happen. So maybe while you’re at it, you can listen to an audiobook…that’s what I do

That’s a great tip – usually when I’m not following a video workout I watch rerun of an old show that keeps me distracted. But as of now I’m following video home workouts. I hope it helps me too. 😊
      Stay safe. ❤️

Yes, Taz is AMAZING! I also love how she normalises living a normal and imperfect life (unlike most influencers) she is just so real!

I am great!! I have just been busy writing tons of essays but school has been going pretty good!

  4. Good luck! Are you doing Chloe’s Summer Shred 2021?

I started the first video and 4mins in realised I am so out of shape since I haven’t worked out in the last 3 months. 🙈 So I started off with an easier YouTube workout from Roberta’s Gym. It’s a two week work-out. Once I’m done with that, I’m definitely doing the Summer Shred. Are you doing it too?

  5. Oh I’m so sorry you’re feeling so terrible 😢 still thinking of u over there every day and praying relief comes soon! When I was in that state during my quarantine, I made art. I don’t even think u need to be an artist for this exercise. Just take pencil to blank paper and draw what you’re feeling. Doesn’t matter how it looks. It was such a relief for me. Keep me posted M 💕🙏💕🙏💕

Yess – I started some clay projects! It’s been fun. They’re FAR from perfect but I’m enjoying learning the process. I’ll post about them soon. 😊

Good luck! You can do it! Two little things I do to help me is keep a journal and writing everything down. Another thing that helps is taking progress pictures of yourself. Sometimes the scale doesn’t move as fast as we want it to but, you’ll be surprised when you see pictures of yourself at the start and then two weeks in

Love the tips! I’ve been meaning to get back to journal writing – I’ll start with a gratitude journal. And the photo tip is gold – I’m definitely going to do that. Thank you so much! ❤️

Bravo! I’m thinking of everyone in India during this crisis. Keep going! You’re helping so many people!

I love the idea of “Glow ups”. It’s a new term! Prior to learning about it, I think many people felt like a failure because they weren’t able to sustain and stick to their healthy goals!

Having a time limit on it seems to give it a feeling of attainability and feel doable!

What a wonderful concept to introduce and to share!

    I’m going to share this!

Thank you so much. We need all the prayers and good thoughts to get us through this crisis. Honestly, I wish I could do better and help more people. This feeling of helplessness is making me more anxious. 😓

Me too! Usually glow ups only referred to improving your physical appearance but watching Taz made me realise it can and should be an improvement of both physical and mental health. Here’s hoping I achieve my goals. ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing it.

  12. You got this!! I’m sure you’ll achieve all of your “glow up” goals. I’ve been getting into the habit of waking up early every day and it’s honestly refreshing. You have so much time to do what your heart desires in the day.

What a great idea, love this idea of a forced glow up! Unfortunately I’m in my IDGAF phase of life lol but soon I hope to gather my willpower and will join you! Good luck! Can’t wait to hear about it!

Sorry to hear about your downward mental health… Feeling it too over here 😔

The only tip I think would help is to put your phone somewhere unreachable when you’re ready for bed. Or don’t bring it to bed with you!

I loved the idea too – since it’s short term and gives you something to focus on other than what’s going on around.

  15. I wish I could limit my cellphone usage one day. But I can’t. I mean, my whole life is in it. I mean my businesses, my social life, my academics. Basically everything. Everything.😌
My cellphone is becoming a healthy yet unhealthy addiction at the same time!

I totally get it!!! I think most of us have developed a crazy phone addiction but it is also the thing that kept us sane with video calls, working on it, watching stuff etc. I hope you’re able to reduce your phone usage off work hours! ❤

I love this idea! Sometimes it is true that we have to force ourselves a bit as it is much easier to wallow in our negative feelings (though sometimes it is also very beneficial to do so for some time), and the most important thing is always to bounce back, in my opinion! Good luck for these goals, and if I would give you an advice it would be: it is okay if you miss one day, there is always the next one, so don’t be too hard on yourself, it is a hard time, especially in your country 🥰

  18. so many good goals here, and they appear to be fairly achievable. i think many people (myself included) tend to set goals that are too difficult to reach, then get bummed out when we fail.
